About the opportunity

We have an exciting permanent, full-time opportunity for an environmental science professional to join our Environment team as the Coordinator Environmental Pollution Regulation.

The purpose of this role is to:

  • Provide local places and spaces that are clean and healthy and turn awareness and commitment into action to halt or reserve the effects, pressures and threats on the built and natural environment by working in collaboration with our community and other stakeholders
  • Develop and participate in the implementation of projects, strategies, policies, guidelines and procedures that align with this commitment, specifically environmental health.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Minimum degree level qualifications in environmental science or equivalent
  • Relevant and solid local government experience in an environmental or related field
  • Experience in direct supervision of authorised officers in a regulatory authority setting
  • Strong capacity or solid experience in the development of strategies, policies and programs related to the environment health field of work
  • Proven project management skills, with a strong record of achievement in planning, coordinating, delivering and evaluating a broad range of programs and projects
  • Demonstrated ability to promote and disseminate environmental health knowledge at both an individual and organisational level
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Computer literacy in basic in basic Microsoft Office applications and the ability to quickly learn corporate applications
  • Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver presentations, write correspondence, complex reports, grant applications and award submissions
  • Current class C driver’s licence.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $2,175.94 per week
  • 35-hour working week
