We are currently seeking an experienced and energetic Accountant to join our Finance Team.

Council currently owns and manages $2.5 billion worth of infrastructure assets and invests in access of $100 million annually. If you are looking to expand your asset accounting skills and gain further experience in a challenging environment within a fast-growing LGA then look no further. 

About the Role:

The primary function of this position will be to provide expert asset accounting and taxation advisory services to internal stakeholders to support best practice in asset measurement, recording and reporting to meeting Councils statutory reporting obligations including compliance to tax legislation.

You will be collaborating with Councils Asset Planning & Management Team to add, revalue and dispose infrastructure assets in Assetic Asset Management System in a timely manner. You will also be maintaining a register of non-infrastructure assets in Technology One, collating information from internal stakeholders and maintaining a register of leased assets. Other duties include lodging Councils monthly business activity statements, annual FBT returns and reviewing monthly bank reconciliations.  

The successful applicant is required to have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Equivalent
  • Relevant experience in similar role and strong analytical ability to deal with high volume and complex financial information in a medium to large organisation
  • Well-developed knowledge and understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting and statutory financial reporting
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with internal and external clients and stakeholders
