The opportunity

Wollongong City Council has an opportunity for a Technician to join our Memorial Gardens and Cemeteries team, supporting sites across the Wollongong Local Government Area.

This hands-on role involves working in a sensitive environment, contributing to the delivery of respectful, high-quality services to the community as part of a close-knit and supportive team. Your work will include:

• Maintaining beautiful and peaceful grounds through horticultural care and general upkeep

• Carrying out burial and memorial operations with professionalism and compassion

• Providing empathetic customer service to grieving families and visitors

• Coordinating with office staff to ensure timely, respectful service delivery and customer requests

• Operating plant and machinery (e.g. excavators and trucks) once training is completed

• Assisting with funeral and memorialisation processes as needed

This is a physically active role requiring fitness and the ability of undertaking duties as described in the job description, working outdoors in all weather conditions. To support work-life balance, you will work 70 hours over a 9-day fortnight, overtime and weekend work may be offered based on operational requirements.

This is a Permanent Full-Time position. Salary ranges from $73,353.63 up to $80,937.03 (Salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience, and qualifications).
