As a Cemetery Sexton, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring that our cemetery is a well-maintained place of peace and reflection for the community. You will be responsible for planning and leading your team to deliver an effective grounds maintenance program and providing a safe, efficient, and dignified burial service. 

If you’re someone who thrives on teamwork, takes great pride in their work, appreciates the sensitivities associated with grieving families and has a knack for keeping everything organised and running smoothly, this role is for you.

Our Ideal Candidate: 

  • Proven experience in leading, supervising, and motivating a team with the ability to foster a culture of safety, respect, and productivity.
  • With an outstanding work ethic, you will constantly be striving to improve your own performance, the skills and performance of your team and the standard of the cemetery and services delivered.
  • Strong background in planning and leading a team to deliver a high standard grounds maintenance program.
  • A background in cemetery management or related field, with a thorough understanding of burial practices and cemetery maintenance would be very highly regarded.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of empathy and sensitivity when dealing with grieving families, funeral directors, and the public.
  • Strong organisational skills and a keen eye for detail in ensuring that cemetery grounds and infrastructure are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Thorough understanding of workplace health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality assurance practices.
