About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Out of School Hours Care (OOSHC) Lead Educator to join Cabonne Council’s Children’s Services team at our Molong service.

In this role, you will act as the Responsible Person, overseeing the day‑to‑day operation of the service to ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements. You will lead the delivery of high‑quality, engaging and inclusive educational programs that support the development, wellbeing and safety of primary school‑aged children.

As a member of Cabonne Council's Children's Services, you will uphold the children's rights, take the Child Safe Standards seriously and demonstrate a commitment to child safety.

What you’ll be doing

• Accept the role of Responsible Person and oversee daily service operations
• Ensure compliance with the National Quality Framework, service policies and procedures
• Develop, implement and critically reflect on educational programs aligned with My Time, Our Place
• Supervise and support OOSHC Support Educators and volunteers
• Maintain safe educator‑to‑child ratios and a secure, stimulating environment
• Build respectful and collaborative relationships with children, families, schools and stakeholders
• Maintain accurate records, documentation and displays as required
• Participate in service assessment, rating and continuous improvement processes
• Work safely and in accordance with Council’s WHS policies and Code of Conduct
• Actively uphold and maintain a child-safe environment, through child-safe behaviours, recognising risks of harm and reporting concerns promptly.

About you

You are a committed and capable educator who enjoys leading a small team and supporting children’s learning in a safe, inclusive and engaging environment. You communicate confidently, take responsibility seriously, and demonstrate sound judgement, professionalism and care when working with children and families.

You understand child safe behaviours and practices that promote and protect the safety, wellbeing and rights of children and can demonstrate these behaviours. You understand your child safety responsibilities, including mandatory reporting, adherence to professional boundaries and compliance with relevant legislations and organisational policies and procedures.

You are organised, adaptable and aligned with Cabonne Council’s values, with a genuine interest in contributing to positive community outcomes.

Essential requirements

• Class C driver’s licence
• Education and Care approved First Aid Certification
• Working with Children Check clearance
• Education and Care approved Child Protection training
• Criminal History Check
• Demonstrated experience working with children
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Foundations of Child Safety Training (Geccko)

Desirable

• Qualification in an early childhood related field

Skills and experience

• Experience coordinating engaging and age‑appropriate activities
• Ability to assist with the day‑to‑day operation of an OOSHC service
• Capacity to supervise and support educators
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team

Remuneration and Benefits

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2026 and Cabonne Council’s policies and conditions of employment.

This position is graded 5, with an hourly rate of $40.71 to $43.84 including casual loading.
