What’s the role all about?

Are you an experienced mid-weight graphic designer ready to take on a strategic role in a leading local government? We’re looking for a talented creative to join the Communications and Brand team. Be prepared to be relied upon by the organisation’s leaders as an expert in communications design, publications and visual brand.

If you can work effectively in a fast paced, customer-focused role with creative flair, and bring positive approach to design solutions and time sensitive deadlines, take this opportunity to join the Communications and Brand team in this permanent, ongoing role. You’ll be based at St Kilda Town Hall with flexible work options available. You’ll be joining a team leading the organisation’s efforts to improve communications and customer experience for our community.

What you might do 

  • Support the Design Communications Lead to develop and manage Council’s key strategic publications.
  • Develop and deliver communications design materials for a range of communications channels, for all divisions across Council.
  • Look for opportunities to continuously improve and evolve our communications design.
  • Work with the Design Communications Lead and support maintenance and development of the organisation’s style guide, communication guidelines and design templates.
  • Manage relationships with internal clients and external agencies.

Skills And Experience

  • A minimum 3 years’ experience in the design and production of corporate publications for print and digital with a good understanding of design across a range of channels, contexts and sectors
  • Degree or diploma in graphic design, communications design or equivalent or lesser formal qualifications with substantial professional industry experience.
  • Finished art and high-level layout skills with demonstrated attention to detail
  • Exceptional demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to work in Windows environment or willing to learn
  • Demonstrated ability to manage own time, competing deadlines and multiple priorities to achieve set objectives within set timelines.
