About the role

Are you looking for a role where your attention to detail, integrity and commitment to fair, consistent

decision-making truly make a difference in the community?

We are offering an opportunity to be the first Compliance and Building Officer at Council to join our new

Private Works Compliance team. In this role, you’ll deliver high-quality, proactive and responsive

building and land-use compliance services across the private domain. You’ll provide clear, timely and

effective advice to the community, business operators, developers and contractors supporting them to

understand and meet their obligations while encouraging early corrective action.

This position plays a vital role in maintaining safety, environmental protection and regulatory compliance

across our region focusing on private works and activity. You will have responsibility for ensuring

compliance with a range of legislation including the Environmental Planning & Assessment Act, Building

Code of Australia, Swimming Pools Act, and the Protection of the Environment Operations Act.

To be considered for this position you will need to:

members of the public or business operators? Provide a real example from your work or life

experience and tell us the story.

Q3. Tell us how you have organised yourself to manage multiple competing tasks covering a

wide geographic area and ensure delivery of effective results. What technology have you used,

what considerations were relevant, and what guided your decision-making?

This position is located at Council's Grafton office, however, this may change should business needs

identify other work locations to be more appropriate to deliver our services in the future.
