We deliver 21 key services such as childcare, waste collection, parks maintenance, libraries, community facilities and aquatic centres to over 370,000 residents. 

The Role

As a Customer Service Officer, you'll be essential in supporting residents, local businesses, and community members. In our lively and occasionally demanding Call Centre environment, you'll handle a variety of inquiries. 
The role involves providing efficient, professional service and promptly addressing requests, with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction.

We currently have three positions available:

  • x1 Permanent Part-Time position (19.5 hours per week)
  • x2 Temporary Part-Time positions (20 hours per week, up to 6 months)

One of your working days will need to be a Friday. You may also be required to work at both the Bankstown and Campsie Customer Service locations.

Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Acting as the initial point of contact for customer enquiries, transactions, and requests, ensuring service standards and performance goals are met.
  • Addressing customer enquiries and issues across all Council services, either personally or by referring to specialist staff as needed.
  • Managing a wide variety of enquiries in a fast-paced and demanding environment effectively.
  • Handling and addressing customer action requests, inquiries, and transactions (both at the Counter and through the Call Centre) with professionalism, accuracy, and efficiency in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment. This includes managing interactions with difficult customers or addressing demanding situations as needed.

You will have:

  • A Certificate III in Customer Contact or equivalent experience in customer service.
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer service role within a call centre environment.
  • Experience in managing customer relationships.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Knowledge of Local Government functions and responsibilities is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Familiarity with the Canterbury-Bankstown LGA, including its geography, activities, and services, is highly desirable but not essential.

The salary range for this opportunity commences at $69,728 Pro Rata (Grade D, Step 1) + 11.5% super. Salary may be negotiable dependent on skills and experience.
