Banyule City Council, Family & Community Services is seeking a qualified Certificate III Early Childhood Educator who provides a high-quality educational program that meets the needs of children aged from birth to 6 years at Joyce Avenue Children’s Centre.

This is a Floating Reliever position, and the successful candidate will be based at Joyce Avenue Children Centre; however, at times may be required to work across any of the ECS services for a range of shifts starting from 6:45 am through to 6:15 pm.

About the Role:

In this role, you will:

  • Ensure the provision of a high-quality, innovative educational program that meets the individual needs of children aged from birth to 6 and that all interactions with the children are positive, respectful, and friendly.
  • Ensure the care and education program aligns with the Early Childhood Services Philosophy. You are required to ensure a child-safe environment and contribute to a culture of child safety by fulfilling the responsibilities and requirements of Council’s Child Safe Policy and procedures.

Shifts are planned in advance if possible but are subject to change to support the operational needs of services.

** Please note: this permanent full-time role is rostered for 8 hours a day, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break and monthly RDOs.

Skills, experience and certificates:

  • Early Childhood Qualification as recognised under Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011 – Certificate III.
  • Knowledge of the National Quality Framework, Education and Care Services National Law Act (2010), Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011) and the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework.
  • Current recognised Level 2 First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificate, with CPR updates completed within the last 12 months.
  • Awareness of the cultural needs of families.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks.
  • Ability to maintain written records and write reports relating to program goals and child development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of mandatory Reporting requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to Banyule City Council values.
