We are a vibrant and diverse inner-city council stretching 20kms from South to Port Melbourne along the stunning bay beaches down to Elwood and out to St Kilda East with around 1000 people who all work together to deliver more than 100 programs and services to our engaged community of residents, businesses and visitors. We are excited to be looking for two new roles within the organisation to support our Senior Leaders. We’re seeking a committed professional who can contribute to the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects and strategic initiatives that directly improve the lives of Port Phillip residents and enhance their experience with Council services.

Reporting to the General Manager Community Wellbeing & Inclusion or General Manager City Growth and Development these roles will provide high quality executive officer and project support to all Divisions of Council with a particular focus on the Community Wellbeing & Inclusion and Operations and Infrastructure Divisions for one role and City Growth and Development for the other role. 

This role is ideal for a proactive and strategic thinker who brings:

• Demonstrated project management experience within a government or complex organisational environment, overseeing multiple initiatives that align with community needs and Council objectives.
• Proven ability to support senior leaders in managing service performance, driving continuous improvement, and strengthening organisational culture.
• A strong understanding of business processes, governance, and stakeholder expectations.
• A deep commitment to delivering excellent customer experience, with a track record of designing and implementing initiatives that improve service accessibility, responsiveness, and satisfaction.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience working across internal teams, elected officials, residents, and external partners.
• A collaborative, outcomes-focused mindset and the ability to balance competing priorities in a dynamic and politically aware environment.
• A demonstrated commitment to public service values.

We currently have two roles available that provide support across a range of divisions within the organisation: 

1x Executive Officer – Community Wellbeing and Inclusion & Operations and Infrastructure (no direct reports) 

1x Executive Officer – City Growth and Development (Role has one direct report) 

What you might do 

• Deliver high-level executive and project support across Council, with a focus on the Community Wellbeing & Inclusion and Operations & Infrastructure Divisions or City Growth and Development
• Champion customer service by tracking performance, resolving complex complaints, and leading service improvement initiatives.
• Lead cross-departmental projects that require strong integration and coordination.
• Support internal and escalated reviews as directed by the CEO or General Managers.
• Drive positive team culture by coordinating leadership, staff engagement, and alignment activities across divisions.

Who we are looking for 

• Proven project management experience supporting the delivery of multiple complex projects.
• Experience supporting leaders with service performance management and cultural enhancement.
• Strong customer service skills with a focus on improving customer experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) in business, project management, or public sector management.
• National Police Check and evidence of a Working with Children Check.
