About the Opportunity
Council has an exciting opportunity to join the Environmental Services team as the skip truck operator, operating across Council's landfill sites and towns.
The purpose of this position is to undertake the effective operation of Council's landfill skip truck and other plant to ensure the delivery of waste management services to the community, while maintaining a professional and courteous public image.
A HC truck licence is essential for this position.

General Activities of this position
Drive the skip truck with laden or empty skips between Council’s depot, landfill sites and commercial customers.
Operate hydraulic machinery to unload off, and load skips onto the truck.
Maintain Council’s assets such as plant, vehicles, tools and trucks.
Receive and attend to phone enquiries from members of the public who want a new skip truck and/or an existing skip to be emptied.
Transport skips of recyclable materials (glass, cupboard, plastics) to MRF Orange.
Carry ULABs to Manildra tip and bags of aluminium cams etc. to scrap metal merchant.
Provide regular update reports to the Department Leader Environmental Services about the status of waste depots, such as access, drainage and need for gravel during wet weather.
Provide timely and accurate reports to the Department Leader Plant and Depots regarding faults, operational characteristics and performance and undertaking routine plant maintenance on the machine within operator’s capabilities.
Completing all relevant records including timesheets, prestart checklist, plant sheets, risk assessments and other legislative related paperwork.
Undertaking site specific inductions and participating in toolbox meetings.
Assist in operating other machinery such as forklift, backhoe and excavator as required.
Undertaking work outside of normal hours and overtime as required to progress or complete assigned tasks.
