The Opportunity

As a Groundsperson, you will be an essential part of our team, ensuring the proper maintenance and management of turf and garden areas across the facility. You’ll help maintain beautiful, well-kept sportsgrounds, parks, and gardens, while also supporting your team in delivering high-quality, customer-focused results.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Turf & Garden Maintenance: Apply your knowledge of turf management and horticulture to carry out routine maintenance and development of sportsgrounds, parks, and gardens.
  • Irrigation Management: Operate and maintain irrigation systems, ensuring they are running efficiently and effectively.
  • Plant & Equipment Operation: Safely operate a variety of horticultural and turf management equipment, ensuring optimal performance and performing minor repairs when needed.
  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside the Turf Team and other staff to meet scheduled work requirements, while also supporting team members with on-the-job training and guidance.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate work diaries, time sheets, and OH&S records, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Safety First: Proactively identify and report hazards to maintain a safe working environment for you and the public.

What We’re Looking For:

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Experience: A Certificate III in Turf Management or extensive hands-on experience in turf management, horticulture, or a similar field.
  • Equipment Operation: Ability to safely operate various turf and horticultural equipment, including minor repairs to irrigation systems.
  • Self-Starter: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and also collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Problem Solver: The ability to recognize potential hazards and resolve minor issues on the job.
  • Physical Ability: Comfortable with outdoor work, including walking, bending, lifting, and operating machinery for extended periods.
  • Driver’s License: A current driver’s license (Light Truck endorsed).
