Cairns Regional Council is looking for an experienced and driven Community Strategy Officer to join our Community Spaces team.  This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our region’s public spaces and assets.  You will be responsible for coordinating strategic planning and operational projects, supporting the Community Spaces capital works program, and acting as a key point of contact for the delivery of various planning and capital projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage various strategic planning and operational projects, working under the guidance of the Coordinator Community Strategy and the Executive Manager Community Spaces.
  • Provide overall coordination and management of the Community Spaces capital works program, ensuring it aligns with departmental and corporate goals.
  • Act as a Client on behalf of the Community Strategy team for the delivery of planning, capital, and strategic operational projects.
  • Provide expert advice and operational project management support, assisting with project administration and ensuring smooth project delivery.

Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications or significant relevant experience in project management, asset management, community planning, or a related field.
  • A current Queensland Driver's Licence and the ability to independently travel between business locations.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and strategic planning, with a solid understanding of contemporary community planning practices.
  • Possess strong research and analytical skills to successfully manage a range of projects.
