North Sydney Council administers the North Sydney local government area on Sydney’s picturesque lower North Shore. Our 400 employees look after 77,000 residents spread across 10 square kilometres of land on the foreshores of Sydney Harbour providing spectacular harbour views, beautiful parklands, and a bustling CBD. The role

We are seeking a number of reliable and hard-working labourers to join our busy Street Cleaning Team on a permanent basis. In this role you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and improving the appearance of the beautiful North Sydney Council Local Government Area. Duties will include all aspects of the street cleaning role, including but not limited to; sweeping streets, picking up litter, operating light machinery and driving plant equipment.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated labouring and/or street cleaning experience, a can-do attitude and a willingness to follow instructions and be a team player.

Essential

  • Labouring and/or cleaning experience
  • Sound understanding of safety requirements in performing cleansing tasks
  • Proven ability to follow procedures and instructions
  • Proven ability to communicate with customers on routine matters
  • Proven ability to work co-operatively in a team environment
  • Physical fitness
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Basic reading and writing skills
  • Current Class C NSW Drivers Licence

Desirable

  • Recent experience driving and operating vehicles and sweeping machines
  • Demonstrated ability to carry out basic mechanical maintenance tasks
  • LR/MR Driver’s Licence

Salary from: $60,465.54 to $71,447.80 per annum (inclusive of allowance)  + 11.5% super + $1,000 pa transport allowance + uniform provided

76hr fortnight with a rostered day off
