Salary: $75,814.48 - $88,108.49 + 12% Superannuation per annum.

Bring your mechanical expertise to a diverse and hands-on role supporting the operation, maintenance, and renewal of essential water and wastewater infrastructure across the region.

What You'll Do

As our Maintenance Mechanical Fitter, you will report to the Team Leader Maintenance Mechanical Fitter and play a key role in ensuring the reliable operation of Council's water and wastewater treatment infrastructure.

In this role, you will undertake the operation, maintenance, and renewal of mechanical assets across our water and wastewater treatment facilities, helping Council meet its statutory obligations and deliver essential services to the community. You will also contribute to the technical investigation, assessment, and improvement of water and wastewater treatment plant assets, supporting the ongoing performance, safety, and reliability of our utility network.

This is a hands-on position suited to a proactive and technically skilled tradesperson who is committed to maintaining critical infrastructure and delivering high-quality outcomes.

What You'll Need (Essential Criteria)

  1. Trade qualification as Mechanical Fitter Machinist. Knowledge of WHS and relevant legislations and practice guidelines associated to the role of mechanical fitter.
  2. Comprehensive mechanical knowledge and demonstrated experience in maintenance, repair, rehabilitation programs and operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities, and activities such as general lathe, machining skills, oxy cutting, pneumatic and welding.
  3. Well-developed analytical skills and demonstrated innovative and flexible approach to fault finding and problem solving operational and maintenance requirements
  4. Demonstrated ability in the use of computer applications, and operating devices effectively, embracing digital solutions for works activities to enable field productivity and scheduling based systems to facilitate day- to-day operations.
  5. Ability to network effectively with key stakeholders in offering advice and support to delivering operational and maintenance services.
  6. Hold and maintain LR drivers' licence, WHS Induction card, Confined Space Entry Certificate, Working from Heights ticket and Dogman ticket.

Desirable Criteria

  • Minimum of four years of post-trade mechanical experience within the Water industry
  • Electrical connection disconnection ticket
  • Forklift Ticket
  • Experience of Mig welding

Other Requirements

  • Complete immunisation record of Hepatitis A, B and Tetanus or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
  • Willingness to complete a pre-employment medical prior to commencement
  • Be willing to participate in on-call roster and overtime (where applicable)
