As the team supporting one of Rockingham’s largest employers, we are seeking an experienced HR leader looking to apply and grow their HR expertise while leading a team of dynamic practitioners. 

You will be pivotal in delivering operational and technical human resources advice and services to enhance organisational resilience and cultivate a high performance culture across the organisation.

In this role, you will apply your strong interpersonal and communication skills to lead a team of skilled HR specialists in providing high-quality advice to employees and direct line managers across a broad range of operational HR functions including payroll and personnel services, end to end recruitment and selection, employees relations (agreement making, performance, discipline, union engagement), change management, work health and safety (prevention, rehabilitation and workers compensation) and maintain the HR assurance and governance frameworks.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of the industrial legislations governing the employment relationship; and Work Health and Safety legislation.

Strong experience in HR (either generalist or a specific discipline), supported with a formal qualification in an HR-related discipline, and an unrestricted ‘C’ class driver’s licence are essential for this role.  

In no more than 2 pages, please tell us about how you will be able to fulfil the job role requirements, with reference to your:

  • Extensive experience in managing a human resource function for a large and complex organisation, including dealing with integrity/disciplinary matters, change management, industrial relations with multiple unions and work health and safety.
  • Knowledge and experience in the delivery of human resources as a strategic business partner (including workforce planning, reporting and human resource development).
  • Leadership ability to lead a team of dedicated HR practitioners and to effectively build partnerships with key stakeholders internal and external to the City.

You will need to have a working knowledge of employment legislation, and be able to interpret employee entitlements in line with industrial instruments and policy.  We’ll even throw in the occasional curly question.

We are offering a total remuneration package of up to $206,000 per annum (including allowances and superannuation), and will be dependant on skills and experience. In addition to the remuneration package the City is offering:   

  • up to 5% matching contribution to superannuation, in addition to the guarantee.
  • Access to 13 Registered Days Off per annum, with a 19 day working month.
