Job Description
What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and proactive leader who can provide strategic direction and operational excellence across Council’s Municipal Services functions. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to lead diverse teams, manage complex operations, and deliver high-quality services across civil works, infrastructure maintenance, parks and gardens, and waste management. With strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, you will be capable of balancing competing priorities, driving continuous improvement, managing budgets and resources effectively, and ensuring compliance with legislative and safety requirements. Most importantly, you will be passionate about delivering sustainable, community-focused outcomes and fostering a positive, high-performing workplace culture that supports Council’s strategic vision and service objectives.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced leader who is passionate about delivering exceptional municipal services and driving positive outcomes for the community. The successful candidate will bring a proven track record in leading large-scale programs, managing diverse operational service areas, and overseeing significant budgets, projects, contracts, and assets within a complex infrastructure, public works, or local government environment. With strong strategic thinking, people leadership, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills, you will be confident leading multidisciplinary teams, building collaborative relationships, managing risk, and delivering high-quality services across infrastructure maintenance, waste management, parks and gardens, and civil works. This is an outstanding opportunity for a results-driven professional who thrives on innovation, continuous improvement, and service excellence, and who is committed to shaping sustainable and resilient outcomes for the Alice Springs community.
Must Have: Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Infrastructure Management, Project Management, Environmental Management, Asset Management, or a related discipline; or substantial equivalent experience, Current National Criminal History check (less than 6 months old).Current C class driver’s license to be able to drive in the NT, Current Working with Children clearance (Ochre Card)and Provide First Aid (minimum).
Please note: A current National Police Clearance, issued within the last six (6) months, is an essential requirement for this position.
