The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is looking for an experienced and motivated Mechanic to join our Infrastructure Workshop team!

Bring your mechanical know-how to a role where you’ll work across a diverse fleet, tackle a variety of maintenance challenges and help keep essential Shire services moving.

About the role

From routine servicing to complex fault diagnosis, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the Shire’s fleet, plant and equipment to keep our operations running safely and efficiently.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Service, maintain and repair Shire light vehicles, plant and equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical faults, identify solutions and carry out quality repairs.
• Collaborate with fellow mechanics to service and repair heavy plant.
• Maintain tools, equipment and workshop facilities in a safe, clean and serviceable condition.
• Follow all occupational safety and health requirements and promote safe work practices.
• Provide inductions on the safe operation and maintenance of plant and equipment.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and provide professional customer service in line with the Shire’s Customer Service Charter.

About you

• A Mechanical Trade Certificate.
• Strong experience servicing and maintaining light vehicles.
• Demonstrated ability to diagnose faults and recommend effective solutions for plant and equipment.
• The ability to work independently, manage your workload and deliver results with limited supervision.
• Sound technical and operational judgement, particularly when it comes to maintenance and safety.
• The ability to provide inductions on the safe operation and maintenance of plant and equipment.
• Experience supervising or mentoring an apprentice or trainee.

Salary: $95,000 plus superannuation, salary packaging and Recreation Centre membership
