• Salary Range Band 3 $42.91 - $45.34 per hour including casual loading plus 11.5% Super 
  • 1 x Casual Ongoing Role (1-2 shifts per week with opportunities to work more)
  • This role will operate programs in different community settings including Adventure Playgrounds sites (St Kilda and South Melbourne locations).

The City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses, and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more. About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for –

  • Program planning and the implementation of activities, and opportunities to enhance children and young people’s development, and social wellbeing.
  • Support the Adventure Playgrounds operations in facilitating safe risky play for middle years demographic (Ages 5-12).
  • Work to industry best practise in a youth setting, enact positive role modelling and support participation of families and children that engage in services.
  • Ensuring the care and protection of all young people attending the service including their rights to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.

Duties:

The three key areas of this role are:

  • Direct Service Delivery: plan, deliver and evaluate middle years programs.
  • Participant Engagement: community consultation, youth, and children meaningful engagement, promote Council programs and services.
  • Administrative duties: reports, team meetings, professional development.

Skills and Experience 

  • A qualification/certificate (or completing) in either teaching, youth work, social work or community development, and/or experience in specifically working with children and young people is required.
  • Experience working with children and young people with diverse needs and from diverse backgrounds is desirable.
  • Food Handling Certificate (desirable).
  • A current Working with Children Check and willing to undertake Police Check (mandatory).
  • Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate desirable.
