We currently have multiple Network Operator opportunities available at our Water Services Depot in Taree. We are interested in meeting candidates who have a Water background or relevant Trades qualification (plumber, fitter, mechanical) who are proactive and will thrive within a supportive team environment.

The role & you

As a Network Operator, you will provide assistance in the response, continuous operation, planned and unplanned maintenance of Council's water and wastewater networks.  

A typical day working as a Network Operator involves: 

  • Sewer pump station maintenance, clearance of sewer blockages and extension of existing sewer mains
  • Water main repairs, valve replacements
  • Responding to emergency situations such as water main breaks to ensure minimal impact for our community
  • Introduction to our telemetry / SCADA systems to understand and diagnose issues within the network

The successful candidates will:

  • Have previous experience in the water, wastewater or industrial process industry, or a relevant trade qualification
  • Hold a Class C drivers licence and be willing to obtain an MR licence
  • Display a keen interest in the water industry accompanied by the knowledge and theoretical understanding of pumping systems and equipment
  • Be available for on-call, call-back and after-hours duties

In addition, you must hold or be willing to obtain the following: 

• General Construction Induction Card (White Card)

• First Aid Certificate

• Confined Spaces Statement of Competency

• Excavator Certificate of Competency

Please note that to be a successful candidate for this role you’ll be required to complete a pre-employment medical check (this will include a drug and alcohol test, sight and hearing, functional and medical component)

Salary: Commencing salary package range circa $60,000 p.a. to $66,000 p.a. plus superannuation. (Dependent on skills and experience.)  

An allowance of $133.61 per week will also apply. (Water Allowance)

Location: Upon commencement your normal place of work will be the MidCoast Council's Water Services Depot located in Taree, Muldoon Street. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.

Tenure: Permanent, Full Time.
