Project Officer - Buildings & Facilities
Full Time - 12- Month Fixed-Term Opportunity  

Cook Shire Council is seeking an enthusiastic and capable Project Officer (Buildings and Facilities) to join our Growth and Liveability team on a 12-month maternity relief fixed-term appointment.

This diverse role will see you coordinate, plan and deliver Council’s buildings and facilities projects including the delivery of Council’s maintenance programs as well as asset management, with a project portfolio of approximately $5 million. You’ll work closely with the Manager of Buildings & Facilities, contractors, consultants, staff and the community to ensure projects and maintenance programs are delivered safely, efficiently and on time.

What you'll be doing
No two days will be quite the same, you will be doing.

• Planning and coordinating building and facilities projects.
• Preparing project scopes, plans and tender documentation.
• Engaging and coordinating contractors throughout project delivery.
• Managing preventative maintenance programs across Council facilities.
• Supporting the development and maintenance of Council’s Building Asset Register.
• Coordinating fire, security and pest management services across Council-owned buildings.
• Liaising with contractors, consultants, government authorities, staff and members of the community.
• Managing Council’s CRM system and ensuring maintenance tasks are effectively tracked and completed.
• Providing supervision and guidance to a small team.

What we're looking for

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience.
• Experience in asset management, preferably within a local government environment.
• Strong project planning and delivery skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines and budgets.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• A commitment to excellent customer service.
• The ability to work collaboratively with staff, contractors, consultants and the community.
• Local government experience is strongly recommended
