Cowra is located within beautiful Central NSW on the banks of the Lachlan River. It is approximately one hour from the regional hubs of Bathurst and Orange, two hours from Canberra and four hours from Sydney. About the Opportunity

Cowra Council is seeking a highly motivated, accuracy & customer service driven applicant to fill the position of Records Officer within the Corporate Services Department of Council. The position of Records Officer is responsible for;

  • Information management processing (electronic and physical records), as well as routine disposition of inactive records in line with Retention & Disposal Schedules as required.
  • Provides pro-active Records and Document Management advice and support to staff.
  • Undertakes regular quality checking of data entry standards with regard to Document Naming Conventions.
  • Operates the main telephone switchboard, responding to customer enquiries efficiently and/or appropriately referring the enquiry.
  • Open, register, distribute & post daily mail.
  • Handling confidential information.

The preferred applicant will have experience with;

  • File classification, quality assurance and other RM/DM activities within an electronic Records Management environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant RM/DM Legislation and Standards.
  • Demonstrated engagement addressing customer enquiries as well as training stakeholders in records management.
  • Demonstrated computing skills, is able to use the Microsoft suite of systems and can demonstrate the capability to learn and apply the Councils suite of business and technical computing applications.

Applicants will need to possess relevant experience in an administrative position, demonstrated high level communication and customer service skills. The successful applicant will be required to undertake a Certificate IV in Business (Recordkeeping). 

Position Details

  • $1,232,71pw plus 11.5% Superannuation.
  • Permanent Full Time
  • 8am to 4:45pm, 35 Hour week with RDO every fortnight
  • Employment conditions are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.
