Local Government Industry Award 2020 Level 6, $64,390.47 pa 

Full Time - Monday to Friday, 38 hours

About the Role

Reporting to the Coordinator of Community Development, this role enables the Shire to fulfil its commitments under the Department of Community Development Family Support Program. You will play a key part in planning, implementing, and supporting a wide range of community services and events. You’ll also provide guidance and support in areas such as recreation services, family day care, tourism promotion, and community infrastructure projects.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a passion for community wellbeing, project management, and public engagement. You’ll also maintain our website and social media, contribute to tourism growth, prepare grant applications, and represent the Shire on various community committees.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, deliver, and promote community events and recreation programs.

• Maintain the Shire’s website and social media presence.

• Prepare grant applications and monitor project budgets.

• Support tourism initiatives and develop visitor facilities and promotional materials.

• Represent the Shire on committees and support civic functions.

• Assist in forward planning for community and cultural development.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).

• Demonstrated experience in community development, project management, and event coordination.

• High level of administrative and time management abilities.

• Desktop publishing skills and social media proficiency.

• Experience in grant writing and community engagement.

• Sound knowledge of community recreation, tourism, and cultural activities.

• Ability to work independently and contribute as part of a team.

• Knowledge of local government processes and human/community service networks.Qualifications & Requirements

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field or minimum 3 years’ experience.

• Current Western Australian ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.

• Current First Aid Certificate.

• Current Police Clearance and Working with Children Check.
