Band 7 - Salary Range $106,626 to $119,182 per annum + 11.5% Super + ADO

The Opportunity

City of Melton is looking for a motivated and responsive Senior Design Engineer with experience in the design of road and drainage assets using computer design software.

Working within the Engineering Services Unit the successful applicant will primarily be responsible for the generation and management of design plans for Council’s capital works program, which include road construction, drainage, traffic treatments, parking, footpaths and parks in accordance with Council policy, engineering standards and codes of practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Civil Design Team Leader in the program management of Council’s suite of engineering design projects inclusive of the planning, scoping, design and construction phases and participate in the development of policy.
  • Prepare computer generated design plans for Council’s capital works program, which include road construction, drainage, traffic treatments, parking, footpaths, parks and sporting facilities in accordance with Council policy, engineering standards and codes of practice.
  • Check engineering designs provided by Consultants, Design Engineers, Graduate Engineers and Student Engineers, ensuring compliance with Council policy, engineering standards and codes of practice.
  • Manage consultants engaged to undertake civil design projects that form part of the annual capital works program, including procurement, evaluation and contract administration in accordance with Council’s Procurement Policy.

About you
 

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering with several years of subsequent relevant experience in a relevant field or lesser formal qualifications with extensive relevant experience.
  • Registered Civil Engineer in Victoria or all necessary qualifications and experience to obtain registered status.
  • Extensive design experience relating to small and large civil engineering projects including roads and drainage design using computer design software.
  • Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
