What You’ll Do:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with local businesses, Traders Associations, and stakeholders to accelerate growth in Banyule.
  • Lead a small, dynamic team to manage the Council's Special Rate & Charge Scheme and roll out impactful economic initiatives that boost growth and inclusion.
  • Take on a strategic role in the Inclusive Enterprise & Local Economy team, driving inclusive opportunities and programs that fuel growth, job creation, and equitable access to economic benefits
  • Build impactful relationships, working together to unlock new business opportunities, strengthening the community’s growth and resilience.
  • Identify cutting-edge opportunities for innovation in local economic initiatives and inclusive enterprise, ensuring Banyule stays at the forefront of inclusive economic growth and opportunity.

What you’ll bring

  • Extensive relevant experience or a tertiary qualification in a relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of the key drivers of economic growth and the role of local government in shaping local economic conditions.
  • Proven ability to build and manage relationships, influencing and negotiating successful outcomes with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of the challenges faced by small businesses, Traders Associations and home-based business.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and implementing economic initiatives that attract investment, create jobs, and drive growth, including the preparation of business cases and securing funding.
  • Experience leading teams, providing performance feedback, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture. Ability to coach and empower team members to achieve Council objectives.
  • Commitment to integrating inclusivity into economic development practices, ensuring equitable access to opportunities for all community members.

Pre-employment requirements

  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence

What we offer:

  • A permanent full-time opportunity
  • Salary range $105,724.83 to $117,953.20 per annum plus super
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities, including health and well-being initiatives
  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave - primary carer/2 weeks of paid parental leave - partner
  • Flexible work and leave arrangement, with a monthly RDO
