Senior Sustainability and Climate Change Officer 

  • Salary Range Band 7 $107,570 - $120,376 plus 11.5% Super
  • Full Time Ongoing role
  • Located at St Kilda Town Hall and with flexible working arrangements possible.

About the Role

The Sustainability and Climate Change team focus on five practice areas: Integrated water management, climate adaptation and resilience, emissions reduction, sustainable design and planning, and Partnerships.

This role is an opportunity to join a highly skilled team with a positive culture who are passionate about environmental sustainability and are experts in their field. 

The successful applicant will be experienced in engaging with and supporting community members and businesses to act in addressing the impacts of climate change.

Duties:

  • Develop and lead the delivery of initiatives to encourage and support community members and businesses to address the impacts of climate change.
  • Engage community members and businesses to develop, support and deliver projects and initiatives that support Council’s objectives to address the impacts of climate change.
  • Support the Principal Sustainability Partnerships Officer to develop and maintain partnerships with community members and organisations, businesses, and other stakeholders to progress sustainable outcomes and address the impacts of climate change.
  • Undertake the role of Project Manager (or project team member) to deliver multi-disciplinary projects to deliver sustainability outcomes, ensuring the agreed scope, timelines and budget constraints are met.
  • Support opportunities for Council to advocate for Victorian and Australian Government initiatives to support Council and organisational objectives relating to sustainability and climate change.
  • Actively contribute to a positive team and organisational culture with a focus on customer service and value for the community

Skills and Experience 

  • Demonstrated experience in leading and supporting individuals, businesses, and community organisations to build their capacity and capability to reduce their impact on the environment and address climate change.
  • Knowledge of behaviour change methodologies and techniques as they relate to community members and businesses addressing the impacts of climate change.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders to delivery shared project outcomes.
