$99,978 to $106,334 per annum

The Role

An exciting opportunity exists within our Office of the Mayor and CEO directorate for a passionate Senior Workplace Health and Safety Advisor to join the Workplace Health and Safety team by contributing to the development and implementation of Health and Safety frameworks programs, policies and procedures.

Reporting to the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager you will actively lead, participate and promote a safety culture and strives to create an environment free from injury or illness, and operate in accordance with Council’s Health, Safety and Wellbeing Duty Statement and associated safety policies/procedures.

Essential

• Diploma qualifications relevant to workplace health and safety.
• Experience working in a multi-disciplinary business.
• Workplace investigations qualifications and experience.
• Demonstrated detailed knowledge of current Workplace Health and Safety legislation, with the ability to provide advice and guidance on legislative requirements.
• Experience in managing rehabilitation and return to work cases.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise own workload and travel throughout the region.
• Demonstrated high level of interpersonal skills including the ability to develop and present information to all levels within an organisation, mediate between parties and build effective working relationships.
• Demonstrated high level attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively operate computer systems including Workplace Health & Safety systems, Microsoft Office suite, finance and record management systems.
• C Class “Manual” Drivers Licence.

Desirable

• Experience in coordinating safety programs and activities.
• Certificate IV Training and Assessment.
• Mental Health First Aid Officer qualifications.
• Experience with Mental Health or Psychosocial support processes.
• Experience in a local government environment.
