About the role
Join Clarence Valley Council as our new Works Officer (RMCC). As a key member of the Civil Services RMCC team, you will help deliver maintenance and construction activities across the State network (Gwydir Highway and Summerland Way), ensuring works are planned, programmed, delivered and recorded to a high standard. Based at our Rushforth Road Works Depot in South Grafton, this varied role will see you undertaking and recording road inspections, identifying asset defects, investigating customer requests and public complaints, raising work orders, and assisting with the planning and scheduling of maintenance and construction activities. 

Key Responsibilities: 
•    Undertake and record inspections on State roads (Gwydir Highway and Summerland Way), identifying asset defects, work conformance, and accomplishments. 
•    Direct, monitor, and motivate staff to deliver cost-efficient maintenance and construction services while maintaining a safe environment for workers and the public. 
•    Raise and manage work orders through computer-based systems for scheduling and monitoring work programs. 
•    Ensure all Council operations comply with quality, environmental, and WHS requirements, with accurate documentation. 
•    Organize and procure necessary plant, labour, materials, and services to complete designated works. 
•    Monitor expenditure daily, managing budgets and reporting any overruns to management. 
•    Inspect engineering matters, respond to public complaints, prepare reports, and recommend maintenance or reconstruction options. 
•    Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient service delivery. 
•    Assist in auditing works to maintain Council standards in quality, environment, and WHS. 
•    Identify training needs, communicate with relevant sections, and provide or facilitate training. 
•    Verify and certify purchase orders and invoices related to supervised activities. 

Essential Selection Criteria: 
•    Certificate IV in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience. 
•    Current Driver’s Licence. 
•    WHS Construction Induction Training Certificate (NSW) or equivalent recognized in NSW. 
•    Proven experience in road construction and maintenance, including defect identification and rectification methods. 
•    General computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and mobile information management devices. 
•    Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
