Temporary Full Time Contract (6 months until February 2027)        35 hours, 5 days/week        $ 101,247.21 to $ 110,941.08 + Super  

Liverpool City Council is seeking a motivated Strategic Planner to join our Strategic Planning Team and contribute to the planning and development of one of Sydney’s fastest-growing local government areas.

This is an exciting opportunity to apply your strategic planning expertise to projects and initiatives that will influence the future growth, development and liveability of Liverpool.

JOB DESCRIPTION 
As a Strategic Planner, you will contribute to the implementation of strategic planning policy and the delivery of Council’s Strategic Planning work program. You will work across a diverse range of strategic planning matters, providing sound advice and helping to deliver positive land use planning outcomes for the community.
Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead the effective and efficient assessment of both Council-led and Proponent-initiated Planning Proposals, as well as support the effective implementation and administration of Council’s Strategic Land Use Planning Framework.
• Undertaking strategic planning projects, studies and research in accordance with Council’s Strategic Planning work program.
• Monitoring and reviewing planning policy to support effective and contemporary strategic planning outcomes.
• Consulting with statutory bodies, community groups, industry and the wider community on planning studies, strategic initiatives and planning information.
• Providing strategic planning advice to Council staff, Councillors and the community, including preparing high-quality reports, correspondence, presentations and briefing material.
• Representing Council on relevant working groups, committees and stakeholder forums.
• Contributing to planning studies and projects, including supporting the engagement and oversight of consultants where required.

ABOUT YOU
You are a strategic thinker and strong communicator with a sound understanding of strategic planning processes and the application of relevant legislation, planning policy and frameworks.
You will bring:

• Experience and relevant knowledge of strategic planning processes, legislation and policy.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver positive strategic land use planning outcomes.
• The ability to manage your own varied workload, prioritise competing tasks and deliver high-quality outcomes within required timeframes.
• Experience engaging and consulting with a diverse range of stakeholders, including Council staff, government agencies, industry, community groups and the broader community.
• Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to navigate differing views and build constructive relationships.
• An understanding of contemporary issues and trends affecting the development industry and the growth of Liverpool.
• Experience undertaking and contributing to the delivery of planning studies, strategic projects and policy initiatives.
