ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Environment and Planning team is looking for a Student Planner to join the team! 

The role of the Student Planner assists planners in the development and implementation of the long term land use vision  for the Cumberland area. This includes  work in Council's strategic planning and statutory planning areas. The student Planner will also contribute to the overall effective operation of the Environment and Planning Directorate. 

The successful applicant will require:

  • Enrolled or completed a Degree in Town Planning or equivalent
  • Understanding of the NSW planning system
  • Interest in contemporary planning issues
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines with possession of excellent time management skills, including an ability
  • to prioritise, implement instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills and ability to operate computer based systems
  • Ability to show a professional approach, including attention to detail, outcomes focuses and a courteous attitude
  • Willingness to work in a team environment with the ability to show initiative and manage individual responsibility
  • Class C Drivers Licence

About this role: 

  • 12 month term contract, full-time position commencing in February 2025
  • 35 hour week
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO)
  • Located at Council's Auburn office frequent travel maybe required across Council worksites, and you may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade T8 of the Cumberland Trainee Salary Structure with a salary of $1,108.49 per week, plus 11.5% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
