The role

Key responsibilities undertaken by the Team Leader – Botanical and Urban Horticulture include:

  • Lead a small team to deliver excellent customer service, assessing, prioritising and responding to customer requests in accordance with Councils service standards
  • Provide mentoring, on the job training and supervision of horticultural staff, apprentices, contractors and other Council employees as directed
  • Provide horticultural advice to ensure appropriate species selection and use occurs to ensure a resilient and diverse plant community
  • Responsible for compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Regulations relevant to the tasks performed

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • relevant experience and qualifications
  • the ability to lead and motivate a small team
  • substantial practical experience in establishing and managing horticultural and landscape assets
  • curation and development of a large formal, heritage or botanic garden
