  • Band 6 salary range from $84,185.92 to $91,218.4 per annum plus statutory superannuation

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced professional to work as part of the Libraries and Lifelong Learning team to provide responsive customer, information and learning services that meet the diverse needs of the community in line with Council values, strategic directions and community needs.

The position coordinates the development and delivery of a wide range of programs, events and exhibitions for adults across the Ballarat community and is responsible for the activation of spaces at the Ballarat Library through partnerships and programming.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in planning community programs, events and exhibitions and stakeholder management.

Key Selection Criteria:

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Degree or Diploma in librarianship/information or knowledge management or similar field, with eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association or lesser formal qualification and substantial relevant experience.
  • Experience in managing and evaluating community programs, events and exhibitions.
  • Proven experience and ability to provide effective staff leadership and ability to build capacity within the existing and growing workforce.   
  • Current Working with Children check.

Selection Criteria 

  • Qualifications and experience as listed above. 
  • Ability to lead and motivate team members and communicate in a collaborative and cooperative manner.
  • Experience at middle management level contributing to the overall service provision of a library service.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing a team to deliver high quality customer focused service.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with demonstrated experience in managing complex relationships.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of technologies relevant to a library environment incluing a general knowledge of emerging trends in new technologies.
