About the role

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Team Member Civil Maintenance to join our Civil Maintenance team.

Reporting to the Coordinator Civil Maintenance, you will undertake a range of civil maintenance activities that support the upkeep of Council roads, drainage systems, footpaths, verges and other civil infrastructure. This hands-on role involves operating plant and equipment, completing maintenance works and contributing to safe and efficient service delivery across the city.

Working as part of a team, you will help ensure Council assets are maintained to a high standard while contributing to a safe, productive and customer-focused work environment.

Your key responsibilities will include

  • Undertaking general civil maintenance works including road, drainage specifically storm water, footpath and verge maintenance.
  • Operating plant and equipment safely and effectively, including skid steers, backhoes, excavators, rollers, crane and other machinery where appropriately licensed and trained.
  • Driving Council vehicles and equipment associated with maintenance activities.
  • Completing maintenance works in accordance with service standards and safe work practices.
  • Assisting with earthmoving and other civil maintenance activities as required.
  • Erecting temporary traffic management signage in accordance with relevant standards.
  • Identifying and reporting defects in Council infrastructure.
  • Maintaining equipment in a clean, safe and serviceable condition.
  • Working collaboratively with team members, contractors and other Council departments.
  • Maintaining accurate records of work undertaken, materials used and equipment operated.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and safe work practices.

About you

You are a safety-focused and dependable team member who enjoys working outdoors and takes pride in maintaining community infrastructure.

You bring practical experience in civil maintenance and can work effectively both independently and as part of a team. You are committed to delivering quality work, following safe work practices and supporting positive team outcomes.

You will also have

  • Current MR Driver's Licence or higher.
  • Certificate III in Civil Construction, Civil Maintenance or equivalent.
  • Experience undertaking civil, road and storm water maintenance activities.
  • Competency operating civil maintenance plant and equipment.
  • Work Zone Traffic Management Certificate.
  • Knowledge of road maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to operate plant and machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Commitment to workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to maintain work records.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current HR Driver's Licence. (Desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience operating a range of civil maintenance machinery and equipment.
