Technical Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Officer to join our Design and Survey Services team.

Our Design and Survey Services team has successfully delivered completed design of a broad range of capital infrastructure projects with individual project values up to $20 million. If Cairns Regional Council provides it for its residents, our team may have been involved in the design.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Assisting in the delivery of survey and design work by providing civil designers, landscape architects, surveyors and design engineers best practice design management support.
• Assisting the Coordinator Design and Survey Services in ensuring the unit is operating efficiently with regard to administration of design and survey office procedures and complying with Council’s broader procurement, contract management, project management and project reporting policies and systems.

What We’re Looking For:

• Previous experience in a support role in an engineering design team / office.
• Basic working knowledge and experience in operating AutoCAD drawing software, along with intermediate level
• skills in the operation of Microsoft Excel software.
• Basic experience with computer-based systems, particularly in relation to purchasing functions and project
• management systems.
• Good communication, negotiation, planning and time management skills.
