Council is seeking a suitably qualified applicant to fill the permanent full-time role of Waste Operator.
Reporting directly to the Waste Management Coordinator, this position is responsible for completing the collection of household mobile garbage bins, street litter bins and/or commercial trade waste bins within the City of Broken Hill as well as drive/operate Council’s loader and other Waste Services machinery for the purpose of effective landfill operations as required by EPA guidelines and Council’s Landfill Environmental Management plan. The position has direct interaction with the public and provides direction to users and the highest level of customer service.
Responsible for completing the collection of household mobile garbage bins within the City of Broken Hill as well as drive/operate Council loader and other Waste Services machinery for the purpose of effective Waste facility operations as required by EPA guidelines and Council’s ‘Landfill Environmental Management’ plan. The position has some interaction with the public and requires the highest level of customer service and may provide direction and answer queries.
We are seeking a highly motivated employee who will work as part of our Waste Services team to complete waste collection and achieve landfill and waste compliance for the city. You should possess an interest in environmentally sustainable practices and enjoy physically working in an outdoor environment. The successful candidate will have to be competent in operating heavy machinery including but not limited to loader, tipper and Waste Compactor truck, have relevant work experience and be able to work effectively in a team and independently as required.
