Councils serve to provide effective local and democratic government to the community.
Lismore City Council is composed of 11 elected Councillors, including a Mayor elected by the public.
Councils' powers are derived from the Local Government Act 1993 and other acts passed by the NSW parliament.
Councillors make decisions on policy, budget priorities and services and works to be provided during the year, using the majority voting system, with the Mayor having a casting vote in case of a tie.
Councillors adopted the following Codes of Conduct in 2023.
