Arborist

Leeton Shire Council is seeking a motivated and skilled Arborist to join our Open Space and Recreation Team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the natural beauty of our community’s parks, reserves, and streetscapes.

The primary purpose of the position is to provide arboriculture services, including but not limited to leading the development and scheduling of annual tree planting and tree maintenance programs as directed by Open Space and Recreation management.

Duties: Specific duties are detailed in the Operations section of the position description, including but not limited to:

• Leading the development and scheduling of Council’s annual tree planting and tree maintenance programs
• Undertaking tree inspections, risk assessments, pruning, removals, and other arboriculture works
• Providing expert advice on tree health, management, and planning matters

About You
We are looking for a team-oriented professional with experience in arboriculture, tree management, and open space maintenance. You will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and high-quality service delivery.

Qualifications: Cert 3 in Arboriculture or equivalent and/or Horticulture with at least 3 years experience.  A Class MR driver licence is also required.

This position is Full Time– 38 hours per week with a fortnightly Rostered Day Off.

Salary: Grade 7 in Council’s salary system ($1,201.90 to $1,339.40 per week) depending upon qualifications and experience, plus 12% Superannuation. An additional Market Allowance may be considered for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate.

Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.

Prior to commencement the successful applicant will be required to undergo and successfully pass a Functional Assessment which includes an alcohol and other drug screening and a hearing test.
