Are you passionate about biodiversity, and looking for a role assisting with the delivery of a range of environmental projects? If that sounds like you then Clarence Valley Council wants to hear from you! We are looking for someone to contribute to the delivery and implementation of biodiversity management projects which protect and restore the environmental values of the Clarence Valley.

There are specific tasks to deliver under our Biodiversity Strategy along with the review of various policies and procedures. It is a challenging and rewarding role, requiring the ability to liaise with Government agencies, community groups, and the general public in relation to projects as required. There is also the opportunity to contribute to delivery of education programs through using online communication platforms.

What you’ll bring

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

•    Tertiary qualifications or equivalent in Environmental Science or Natural Resource Management; or equivalent relevant industry experience
•    Detailed knowledge of biodiversity, environmental or ecological issues
•    Sound knowledge of vegetation management planning
•    Sound knowledge and demonstrated experience with the legislation relating to biodiversity conservation
•    Current Drivers Licence
•    Demonstrated experience in the delivery of improved biodiversity projects related to flora and fauna, NRM or related discipline
•    Demonstrated ability to obtain and integrate a range of expert advice and negotiate natural resource management outcomes with stakeholders
•    Demonstrated experience in delivery of education programs
•    Demonstrated well developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and/or management plans
•    General computer literacy including basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and internet and email programs and an understanding and ability to utilise computer based GIS programs
•    Behaviour that positively demonstrates commitment to Council’s STRIVE values

This position is located at Council's Grafton Office, however, this may change should business needs identify other work locations to be more appropriate to deliver our services in the future.

$87,680 to $104,560 plus superannuation
