The Local Economy and Place team delivers projects and partnerships that strengthen Monash’s economy by supporting business growth, attracting investment and create opportunities that support a thriving, inclusive and sustainable local economy.

About the role

You will lead and deliver economic development initiatives that support business growth, investment attraction, industry engagement and workforce participation. Note this is not an economics role.

  • Lead economic development programs aligned with Council’s Economic Development Strategy
  • Design and deliver initiatives that support inclusive economic participation and local business growth
  • Develop and sustain productive partnerships with local businesses, business networks, anchor institutions, government agencies and internal stakeholders
  • Develop clear and accessible communications and promotions
  • Event and workshop management and sponsorship agreements
  • Use economic, demographic and community insights to inform programs, advice and local actions
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on program impact and continuous improvement

About you

You are proactive with an understanding of local business needs, can turn insights into practical initiatives, and is committed to strengthening Monash’s economic resilience and growth.

  • Experience in economic development, communications/graphic design, marketing and events and/or local government program delivery
  • Strong project management, planning and organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to analyse data, monitor outcomes and provide clear advice and reports
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proven ability to build partnerships and work collaboratively across diverse groups
  • A solutions-focused approach and commitment to continuous improvement
