About the opportunity

Are you ready to lead a skilled team and make a real impact, keeping the Shire’s plant and equipment safe, reliable and performing at its best?

We’re looking for an experienced Workshop Supervisor to join our team. In this hands-on role, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of the Workshop, supervise mechanics and an apprentice mechanic, and ensure our diverse fleet of plant and equipment is serviced, maintained and monitored to a high standard.

As Workshop Supervisor, you’ll lead a team responsible for maintaining and servicing essential plant and equipment, ensuring reliable support for the projects and services that directly impact our community.

About the role

You will be responsible for:

  • Supervising and supporting the Workshop team, including managing performance and quality of work.
  • Carrying out mechanical servicing, repairs and maintenance on a range of heavy and light plant and equipment.
  • Scheduling, monitoring and reporting on the maintenance and performance of the Shire’s fleet.
  • Ensuring Workshop activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Providing practical leadership and helping your team develop and succeed.
  • Ensuring the Shire’s essential plant and equipment is maintained to provide reliable support for community projects and services.

Salary: $110,000 per annum 

Key selection criteria

  • Extensive previous experience in supervising and undertaking workshop services for a wide range of plant and equipment (heavy and light).
  • Established leadership, people management and time management skills.
  • Completion of a recognised Mechanical Trade Certificate.
  • Demonstrated ability to make recommendations on complex plant operational and maintenance issues.
