Job Description

About the role:  

The Audit and Risk Committee is an advisory committee of the Board, comprising Directors and independent members. It provides guidance on audit, governance, risk management, internal controls and financial reporting.

We are seeking applicants with significant experience and qualifications in one or more of the following areas:

  • Accounting, financial management and reporting
  • Risk management
  • Information systems and technology
  • Corporate governance
  • Highly regulated and/or public sector environments
  • Board or committee membership

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide independent advice and guidance to the Board on audit, governance, risk management and financial reporting matters.
  • Review and assess the effectiveness of risk management, internal control and compliance frameworks.
  • Monitor audit activities, including internal and external audit outcomes and management responses.
  • Contribute to the oversight of financial reporting processes and organisational accountability.
  • Evaluate emerging risks and provide strategic insight to support informed decision-making.
  • Support strong corporate governance and continuous improvement across the organisation.
  • Review policies, frameworks and reports relevant to the Committee’s responsibilities.
  • Apply your professional expertise and independent judgement to Committee discussions and recommendations.
  • Attend 4-5 Committee meetings per year and prepare by reviewing meeting materials in advance.
  • Act in the best interests of East Gippsland Water and the communities it serves.
