About the role
The City of Ballarat is seeking motivated and experienced Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Nurses to join our vibrant team on a casual basis.
We have opportunities available across both our Universal Maternal and Child Health (UMCH) and Enhanced Maternal and Child Health (EMCH) programs. These roles support children from birth to school age and their families through evidence-based nursing practice, health promotion, early intervention, and collaborative care.
The Maternal and Child Health team sits within the Family, Youth & Children’s Unit and delivers services from six integrated Maternal and Child Health centres across the City of Ballarat, many of which are co-located within early learning hubs.
Universal Maternal and Child Health Nurse
As a Universal MCH Nurse, you will provide the Victorian Universal Maternal and Child Health service, supporting families through the Key Age and Stage (KAS) framework and early years initiatives.

Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Nurse
In addition to the responsibilities of the Universal role, Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Nurses provide targeted support to families experiencing increased vulnerability, complexity and risk factors.

Previous experience working within an Enhanced Maternal and Child Health program is highly desirable.
About you
To be successful in either role, you will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with families, colleagues, welfare and early year’s professionals. You are required to have current registration with AHPRA as a registered nurse and a registered midwife, and a recognised post graduate Maternal and Child Health qualification to meet employment in Victoria. You need a current Victorian driver’s licence, Working with Children and police check.
A position in the MCH team will involve working from any of the six MCH integrated sites across the City of Ballarat, which are predominantly co-located early learning hubs. To match resourcing requirements and to meet the demands of an expanding MCH program days of work will be determined with the successful applicant.
