About the Position

The Shire of Ashburton is seeking a motivated and community-focused Pool Duty Manager to support the safe, efficient operation of the Onslow Aquatic Centre.

This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading from the front and takes pride in delivering a safe, clean and welcoming environment for the community. Working closely with the Swimming Pool Coordinator, you will support daily operations across pool safety, water quality, maintenance, hygiene and customer service.

Reporting to the Swimming Pool Coordinator, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility, ensuring water quality, safety and operational standards are consistently maintained. You will provide on-shift leadership to Pool Duty Managers and staff, fostering a positive and accountable team culture.

You will supervise and support pool staff, maintain accurate administrative records (including incident and financial reports), and respond confidently to emergencies, including first aid and water rescues. When required, you will act as the responsible manager in the Pool Manager’s absence. Occasional travel to other Shire aquatic facilities in Paraburdoo or Tom Price may be required to assist with operations or staff relief.

To be successful in this role, you will bring experience in aquatic centre operations, a sound understanding of chemical handling and water quality management, and the ability to work independently while providing clear leadership to a small team. Experience in a regional or remote aquatic facility will be highly regarded.

Mandatory qualifications include a C Class Driver’s Licence, LIWA membership, Pool Operator Accreditation (Class 1), Working with Children Check, current First Aid Certificate, and a Pool Lifeguard Certificate.
