Senior Finance Officer

As the Senior Finance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting Council’s financial operations through the preparation of statutory financial returns, including Business Activity Statements and Fringe Benefits Tax returns, along with the reconciliation, monitoring and acquittal of grant funding received by Council. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure financial records are accurate, compliant and support informed decision-making across the organisation.

The role offers a diverse range of responsibilities across financial reporting, grant management and compliance. Providing the opportunity to apply your financial expertise while contributing to sound financial governance, continuous improvement and the successful delivery of services, projects and programs that benefit the Bland Shire community.

What we are looking for in you

  •  A qualified and experienced finance professional with a Certificate IV in Financial Services or a related qualification and demonstrated experience in accounting or financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting requirements, taxation obligations and grant management processes, with the ability to prepare accurate statutory returns and reconcile financial information.
  • Proven ability to provide sound financial advice and support to stakeholders, along with well-developed analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across the organisation and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Current Class C Driver Licence
