Gympie Regional Council is seeking a motivated and reliable Team Member Construction to join our multi-skilled team. This hands-on role supports Council’s operational objectives through a range of concrete construction and maintenance activities. This position is a fulltime, fixed term position for approx. 12 months with the possibility of an extension.

Working as part of a supportive and collaborative crew, you will be involved in the placement, finishing and repair of concrete structures and surfaces. While the position is primarily based within a construction crew, you may also work across other Construction teams depending on project programs and operational requirements.

What you’ll be doing

• Carry out concrete labouring activities including mixing, placing, screeding, edging, finishing and curing.
• Assist with setting up and dismantling formwork, reinforcement and other construction elements.
• Operate and maintain small hand tools and concrete finishing equipment.
• Undertake general civil construction and labouring duties including digging, levelling, lifting and material handling.
• Work safely and efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
• Support your team to deliver construction and maintenance projects across the local community.
• Work effectively under general supervision and contribute positively to a safe, respectful and productive workplace.

What we’re looking for

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Experience using hand tools and small equipment associated with concrete works.
• Experience or knowledge of civil construction and maintenance activities.
• Concrete and formwork experience is desirable.
• Good physical agility and dexterity, with the ability to undertake frequent lifting, bending and manual labour.
• A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and members of the public.
• The ability to work under general supervision and follow instructions and established procedures.

Essential licences and tickets

You must hold and maintain:

• A current Queensland C Class Driver Licence or higher.
• A current Queensland General Construction Induction White Card, or equivalent.

Desirable licences, tickets and experience

The following would be highly regarded:

• A current Queensland MR Class Driver Licence or higher.
• Experience in civil construction and maintenance.
• Experience in concrete construction and formwork.
• High Risk Work – Dogging.
• TMR Traffic Management Implement qualification.
• Work Safely at Heights.
• Confined Space.
• Asbestos Awareness.
• Install Trench Support.
• Safe Work Near Exposed Live Parts.
• Quick Cut Saw.
• Respirator Fit Testing.
