Permanent Full Time | 9-Day Fortnight

Oberon Council is seeking a reliable and experienced Truck Driver to join our team. As a Truck Driver, you will play an important role in delivering essential infrastructure and maintenance services across the local government area. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will operate a range of heavy vehicles and plant to support road construction and maintenance, civil works, and other operational activities. This is a diverse role that also involves operating plant and equipment and undertaking general labouring duties as required, making it ideal for someone who enjoys a hands-on and varied work environment. Float and low loader experience will be highly regarded.

Key responsibilities

  • Operating heavy vehicles safely and efficiently in accordance with relevant legislation and policies.
  • Driving a range of trucks including tipper trucks, dump trucks, truck and dogs, low loaders, water carts and other specialised vehicles.
  • Assisting with road maintenance, construction and infrastructure projects.
  • Undertaking general labouring duties as required.
  • Operating other plant and equipment where appropriately trained and licensed.
  • Completing required documentation including pre-starts, logbooks and risk assessments.
  • Working collaboratively with crews while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality outcomes.

About the role

  • Permanent full-time position
  • 38 hours per week
  • 6:54am – 4:00pm
  • 9 day fortnight
  • $1,238.83 - $1,437.04

What we are looking for

  • Current HC Driver Licence with demonstrated experience operating heavy vehicles.
  • Experience in civil construction, road maintenance, road construction, or a similar environment.
  • Ability and willingness to undertake general labouring duties and support operational crews as required.
  • Strong commitment to Work Health and Safety and safe work practices.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Current White Card (General Construction Induction).
  • Sound communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude.
  • Float/low loader experience preferred.
  • Experience operating plant and equipment such as excavators, loaders, graders, rollers, street sweepers or jet patchers will be highly regarded
