About the Position

This is a diverse operational role suited to an experienced plant operator with strong machinery skills, a safety-first approach and a commitment to delivering high-quality services to the community.

Working across the Shire’s waste management and operational services, you will play a key role in maintaining essential community assets and supporting the efficient delivery of waste services. Key responsibilities include:

• Operating a range of specialised plant and equipment including waste collection vehicles, front-end loaders, compactors, hook lift trucks, and telehandlers.
• Collecting residential and commercial waste in accordance with service schedules
• Safely operating dual-control vehicles on public roads and within operational environments
• Conducting routine plant inspections, servicing checks and basic maintenance activities
• Supporting the town maintenance teams and other operational activities when required
• Occasional travel to other Shire locations as required, including planned overnight stays (allowances provided)

About You

We are seeking a capable and experience operator who can demonstrate a high level of competence working with heavy plant and equipment.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• Demonstrated experience operating heavy plant and equipment particularly strong experience with front-end loaders
• Experience and relevant tickets operating machinery such as compactors, telehandlers, hook lift trucks and dual-control vehicles on public roads.
• Good communications skills, a team focused attitude, reliable, pro-active and solutions focused approach
• The ability to work safely and efficiently in an operational environment
• A current White Card, Front End Loader ticker and HR Licence is essential
• An Elevated Work Platform (EWP) and Working at Heights tickets will also be highly regarded

Waste industry experience is advantageous but not essential. We welcome applications from skills operators who can demonstrate transferable plant operating experience and a willingness to learn.
