About the role

Are you ready to transform the future of a growing city? Effective asset management is essential for delivering on the vision and goals of Council, and this is where you come in.

We’re looking for an experienced and analytically minded Asset Management Advisor to join the Infrastructure Group at Palmerston North City Council. This is a high impact role that supports Council's long-term infrastructure goals by developing and continuously improving asset management systems and strategies.

As an Asset Management Advisor, you will work closely with the Asset Management Team Leader to develop, implement, and refine asset management systems that support Council’s long-term planning and investment strategies. You’ll contribute to the delivery of the Infrastructure Strategy, Strategic Asset Management Plan, and Asset Management Plans across multiple services including roads, water, parks, and community facilities.

This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Your focus in this role will include:

• Supporting the development and maintenance of best practice asset management systems.
• Coordinating and contributing to the production of strategic infrastructure planning documents.
• Providing asset management advice to service and activity managers across Council.
• Assisting with the corporate Asset Management Improvement Plan.

About you

You are a systems thinker with strong analytical and communication skills, and an ability to translate complex asset needs into effective plans.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Planning, Finance, or another relevant field.
• At least five years of experience in asset management or infrastructure planning.
• Familiarity with asset management best practice frameworks and long-term planning.
• Practical knowledge of public infrastructure systems and related legislation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and strong critical thinking capability.
• A National Diploma in Infrastructure Asset Management is desirable.
