Biosecurity Officer - Community Partnerships (Kauri Protection)

Mō te tūranga | About the role

• Work with community groups, schools, landowners, and mana whenua to co-develop and implement kauri protection plans.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to provide advice and guidance that supports effective kauri protection outcomes across the Waikato.

• Drive advocacy and education opportunities for kauri protection across the region.

• Manage projects and contribute to programme planning and reporting.

• Undertake fieldwork as required such as including soil sampling, and disease surveillance.

Mō te tangata | About you

• A self-starter who is motivated and capable of working independently.

• Passionate about the environment and an advocate for Aotearoa’s taonga species.

• A confident communicator who can build relationships, influence behaviour, and motivate a broad range of audiences.

• Previous experience working in biodiversity, biosecurity, conservation management would be ideal.

Mō ngā pūkenga | Qualifications and experience

• A relevant tertiary qualification in biosecurity, ecology, environmental science, or a related field.

• At least 5 years’ relevant experience.

• Full NZ driver’s licence.
