About the role:
As Building Control Officer, you’ll help ensure safe, compliant buildings across our district. You’ll work with builders, developers, and the public, carrying out inspections and assessments to support quality development in our growing community.
  
Role Responsibilities / Duties:
  • Carry out building inspections and ensure compliance with building regulations.
  • Review and process applications for building consents.
  • Deal with public enquiries in a timely and friendly manner.
  • Provide internal and external customers with guidance and advisor on matters relation to the Building Act 2004.
  • Staying up to date on Statutes, codes, regulations and council policies. 
Skills & Experience:
  • A Regulation 18 compliant qualifications as per MBIE guidance.
  • 3+ years’ experience as a building control officer or related role.
  • Working knowledge of the Building Act, Building Code, regulations and frameworks.
  • Previously worked in a local council/government environment.
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills, able to explain technical information into clear, everyday language.
  • Proficient computer and database skills.
